In this weekend course, suitable for beginners and improvers, each participant will learn how to weave a beautiful and sturdy frame basket with either a St. Brighid’s Cross at the side made from skeined (split) willow or weave in the Danish style (see photos for examples). In this class we will cover willow growing and preparation, hoop making, skein-making, frame basket basics, and traditional willow weaving techniques, all while working with different varieties of heritage basketry willow. One will have the option to work with colourful varieties of willow and go home with their own timeless basket. Due to the time limitations of a two day course, the hoops for the baskets ready made and I will demonstrate the process. The slight increase in price reflects the extra materials fee.
